GLG forms partnership with Elizabeth Karmel

  New All Natural Planks & Wraps                             

Great Lakes Grilling and Elizabeth Karmel have formed a new partnership with the introduction of the new Grill Friends line of planks and cooking wraps. 

This new all natural product line will feature grilling planks in three wood flavors, Cedar, Pecan, and Hickory. Each package will include step-by-step instructions and a recipe for the actual image used on the front of the package.

Wraps will be available in five exciting flavors with packaging you will love. The wraps are the largest size available in the marketplace, featuring new mixed packs of Pecan & Cherry (four of each), Hickory & Maple (four of each), and an eight pack of Cedar.

Growing up in North Carolina, Karmel was raised on BBQ. Her cultural passion for barbecue served Karmel well as she played with fire everyday handling marketing public relations efforts and culinary initiative for Weber-Stephen Products Co. for a decade.

Karmel, now Executive Chef at Hill Country Restaurant, New York City is a grilling and barbeque information resource for the country's media and food writers, chefs and cookbook authors, and has been a featured guest on many Food Network programs and specials. She is a regular guest on all three morning shows; Today, Good Morning America, and CBS The Early Show as well as Martha Stewart Living Radio. She is frequently quoted and regarded as America's female grilling expert.

As the ecomony continues to tighten, more and more people will hit their decks, patios and backyards to entertain guests. The home cooked meal will once again reign as champion. This new line of products will a a certain level of uniqueness and fun to every event.

I love cooking with wood - the look of it, the taste of it and the ease of grilling food on it. I think of wood as I do a spice rub or any other flavoring agent. Grilling with wood is a unique way to give your food a kiss of smoke flavor. As the grill heats the wet wood, a wisp of smoke appears and the air is filled with an intoxicating aroma from the wood and the grilling food.

For the first time ever, the Grill Friends planks and wraps address this common question. Elizabeth studied the flavor profiles of each of the wood types in the line very closely and paired speciific food types to compliment each other. "For many years people have associated Cedar with Salmon", say Karmel "but what they didn't know is that flavor profiles of Hickory works perfectly with poultry and pork or Pecan for beef and game".
